Description
Mixer Karl was a playful bot that let Mixer users interact across channels. It tapped Mixer.com’s public fire‑hose API, streaming every chat message and presence update. Karl could track individuals and let anyone locate or summon a specific user in any channel.
Beloved by many streamers - but irritating to others - Karl was eventually disabled. Not long afterward, Mixer.com shut down.
Commands and Friends
In the original command responses, the bot introduces itself as “Karl” and credits @Quinninator and @BoringNameHere. Users could address it with a caret-prefixed command such as ^find or send it a private whisper. Alongside finding people, it could relay a message to someone watching another channel and summon them with a link to the sender's channel. The command implementation preserves its original personality and help text.
Karl also had its own friend lists. It could notify users when friends became active and report which channels their friends were watching. The ^lurk command suppressed notifications announcing the user's arrival, while the summon feature checked the recipient's friend list before allowing an ordinary user to summon them. These social features are preserved in the friend and presence code.
