Description

PicGen was an experiment in generating black-and-white images by enumerating every possible combination of pixel colors on an n × n grid. The idea was that every image of that size would occur somewhere in the sequence.

Quinn described the program in his original project index. The surviving description records the concept, without specifying the grid size used or how many images were actually generated.

Original Record

The May 2009 homepage introduces PicGen as a recent experiment. The January 2011 project index supplies the Java and pixel-combination details. Neither page establishes an exact creation date.
